How to Use Match Properties in Autocad- Match Properties- Match
The Match Property command in AutoCAD is a powerful tool that allows you to quickly and easily apply the properties of one object to another. This can save you a significant amount of time and effort when working on complex drawings or projects. How does the Match Property command work? When using the Match Property command, you first select the object that has the desired properties. These properties can include things like line type, color, lineweight, and more. Once you have selected this object, AutoCAD remembers its properties and allows you to apply them to other objects. To apply the properties of the selected object to another object, simply select the object(s) that you want to modify and use the Match Property command. AutoCAD will then apply all of the properties from the selected object to the new objects.Using the Match Property commandTo use the Match Property command in AutoCAD, follow these steps:Select an object that has the desired properties.Type “MATCHPROP” on the command line or access it from the toolbar.Select one or more objects that you want to modify.Press Enter or right-click and select “OK” to apply the properties.Once you have applied the properties using the Match Property command, all selected objects will now have those same properties. This can be incredibly useful when you want consistency in your drawing or when you need multiple objects to have identical visual attributes.Additional TipsHere are a few additional tips for using the Match Property command effectively:1. Using Multiple Selection MethodsYou can use various selection methods when choosing objects for both applying and receiving properties with Match Property. You can individually select objects, use window selection, crossing selection, or even create a selection set. This gives you the flexibility to modify multiple objects at once.2. Using FiltersAutoCAD also allows you to use filters when selecting objects for applying properties. For example, you can filter objects based on their layer, color, or any other property. This helps you fine-tune your selection and apply properties to specific objects within a larger set.3. Using Object OverridesIn addition to applying properties to objects using the Match Property command, you can also override individual object properties temporarily. This means that even if an object has different properties than the rest of the drawing, it will still display according to the overridden properties.ConclusionThe Match Property command in AutoCAD is a powerful tool that can save you time and effort when working on complex drawings or projects. By quickly applying properties from one object to another, you can ensure consistency and uniformity throughout your design.Remember to experiment with different selection methods and filters to refine your selection and apply properties only where needed. Additionally, consider using object overrides when necessary for fine-tuning individual object appearances. With the Match Property command in your AutoCAD toolbox, you’ll be able to streamline your workflow and create more visually appealing drawings in less time.
How to Match Properties in AutoCAD
The AutoCAD Match Properties command, MATCHPROP, is an easy way to paint properties from existing objects onto other objects. Simply select the source object and its properties are applied to the target objects. By default target objects take on the Color, Layer, Linetype, Linetype Scale, Lineweight, Thickness, and Plot Style of the source object. Some object types can take on additional properties from like source objects. Dimension objects take on the Dimension Style of source Dimensions Polylines can inherit global width and linetype generation properties from source Plines Text receives the Text Style from source Text Viewports match the On/Off, Display Locking, Scale, Shade Plot, Snap, Grip and UCS Icon visibility of the source Viewport Hatches will become the source Hatch pattern and scale Tables inherit Table Style from source Tables Additionally, AutoCAD 2008 provides for painting properties from/to Multileaders which get Multileader Styles. And all annotative objects can match the annotative properties of source objects. If you don't want all the properties from the source object, you can limit the painted properties by changing the Property Settings before selecting target entities. Command: MATCHPROPSelect source object:Current active settings: Color Layer Ltype Ltscale ...Select destination object(s) or [Settings]: Enter an S (or Settings) at the Select destination objects prompt to get the Settings dialog.Simply uncheck any property you don't want to apply to the source objects. For example: you want to change the target objects to match the source object's layer, but don't want to affect the linetypes; uncheck the Linetype property. Or, you want to apply the Hatch layer from one Hatch to another, but don't want to change the existing Hatch pattern; uncheck the Hatch box under Special Properties.Match Properties Command in AutoCAD

#4 Re: Hatch scale/angles different per computer Originally Posted by jaberwok Hi Tracy, welcome to AUGI.I had a theory about hatch scale - but I've just (partially) disproved it. It was like this -Create a hatch at a scale of 1. Use the Scale command to make it twice as big. Create a new hatch using a different pattern at any scale. Now use Match Properties to make the second hatch the same as the first. The second hatch will not match the first hatch. It will match the first hatch as it was before the Scale command - that is, it matches the original definition. I know this is sometimes true.Rotation could be because hatching is applied relative to the current UCS so, if your UCS is rotated, the hatch will be rotated too.Your base angle, set through the Units command, will have the same effect. Text will be altered if you both use the same style name but with different settings; imported text will take on the characteristics of the style already defined in the host drawing. Hi there, thanks for the welcome! If one of my guys does a bit of hatching here at say scale 1, then I open the drawing on my machine and try to hatch another area at scale one, the 2 hatches will appear different. This has generally always been the case for as long as I can remember with autocad. Maybe this is to do with the acad.pat or acadiso.pat thing, as ccowgill suggested?I forbid UCS rotation here so its not anything to do with that either?! hmm maybe the properties of the hatch as they were originally applied are the ones that are listed ... instead of the ones applied after a hatch edit? perhaps ? did that even make any sense?MATCH PROPERTIES - Autodesk Community - AutoCAD

Overview There are three key types of keyboard shortcut in Project Explorer: Shortcuts which enable you to instantly zoom or pan to any currently selected object in the AutoCAD viewport from the Project Explorer window. Shortcuts which enable you to easily identify an object, sub-object, or object relationship displayed in the Project Explorer window, by applying temporary highlighting to the AutoCAD viewport. Shortcuts which enable you to access the Civil 3D Properties window for any selected object in the Project Explorer window. List of supported keyboard shortcuts Project Explorer provides keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard Shortcut Description Z Zoom to the selected Project Explorer object in the AutoCAD viewport. P Pan to the selected Project Explorer object in the AutoCAD viewport. S Select the selected Project Explorer object in the AutoCAD viewport. C Clear (or de-select) the current selection in the AutoCAD viewport. A (or E) Open the Civil 3D Properties dialog for any selected object. CTRL Temporarily highlight the selected Project Explorer object (or sub-object) in the AutoCAD viewport. CTRL A Select all items in the list (for list views that support multiple item selections). CTRL C Copy selected list items to clipboard. Sub-Object keyboard shortcuts Keyboard shortcuts which zoom, pan, or temporarily highlight in the AutoCAD viewport also work at sub-object level on many Civil 3D objects. For instance, using the keyboard shortcuts listed above you can: Zoom to, pan to, or temporarily highlight any selected alignment and profile points. Zoom to, pan to, or temporarily highlight any selected surface triangle(s) or cells. Zoom to, pan to, or temporarily highlight any selected parcel segments.
